JOGL launches a call to design an open source Covid-19 test

Designing an open-source DIY Coronavirus detection test! That’s the mission the JOGL distributed research laboratory has decided to challenge.

Thomas Landrain, founder of Just One Giant Lab (JOGL), and Zach Mueller, co-founder of SoundBio, a community lab in Seattle, launch the OpenCovid19 Initiative in order to develop and share open source methodologies to safely test for the presence of SARS-CoV-2.

JOGL is the first distributed research laboratory operating as an open and massive mobilisation platform for collaborative task solving. JOGL relies on peer-to-peer efforts onto “fixing the most urgent and important problems using open science, responsible innovation and continuous Learning”.

JOGL has decided to contribute to fight the current epidemics by developing an open source methodology to safely test for the presence of SARS-CoV-2 using tools as common as possible.
